The infamous Psytrance producers Simon Posford and Raja Ram will make one of only eight US appearences this Christmas in Lawrence, Kansas and Liberty Hall. The fact that they will be in the midwest is a further example of how electronic music with psychedelic and mind expansive qualities is quickly catching on in the region. The people of the region, though no strangers to entheogens/mind expansion/hippie lifestyles gravitate naturally towards live, human made music and shy away from electronic soundscapes. However the success of bands such as Sount Tribe Sector 9, Bassnectar and others who are attempting to fuse the jam band audience of the midwest with electronic, trance inducing grooves shows that times may be changing. Shpongle will be another huge leap foward for the region, as still greatly uknown by the masses, and will be a show which will spark further interest in electronic music in the crowd.
